As
noted already, my design style is one built upon simplicity.
The importance of delivering your company's message
to the end user through a web site should never be trumped
by a designer's love for flashiness. While extremely
flashy web sites are quite appealing to techie nerds,
they in fact alienate over ninety-percent of other web
surfers. As you browse through my portfolio below (which
is growing weekly!), you will notice all of the elements
that you will need in your own web site such as a professional
appearance and logical navigation system.
Web
Design and Development
Oklahoma
State Senator Jim Reynolds
This
web site was put together to offer Senator Reynolds'
constituents and other interested voters across the
state a more personal and informative view of one of
Oklahoma's most likable state senators. With everything
from a photo gallery to a current news page which Senator
Reynolds updates regularly, this site has something
for everyone to enjoy.

Enertech
Manufacturing, LLC
This
web site was a joy to build as I got to work with one
of Oklahoma's finest graphic artists, Kim Lowe. While
Kim laid out the general look and feel in Adobe Photoshop,
I took that look and turned it into a highly technical
and functional web site. The web site offered Enertech's
customers the ability to place an order for their direct
marketing program. Not only could the customer place
an order, but the customer could also customize that
order and even generate a dynamic proof.

STAR
Building Systems
This
web site served a two-fold purpose. It was both informational
and functional as it allowed STAR's customers the ability
to place an order for their direct mail program. While
a simple web site, it was very effective in soliciting
sales and explaining to new customers the process they
must follow.

OG&E's
Wattsdog Fulfillment System
This
web site is unique in the sense that it is a private
web site as opposed to being a public one. The purpose
of this web site was the exchange of information between
OG&E and their vendor, Wolf Mailing. OG&E would
enter orders into the system so that the vendor could
then fulfill those orders. In addition to entering orders,
orders could also be updated along with a current inventory
count. The site is also secure with only authorized
personnel having access to login.

Email
Marketing Campaigns
Association
for Women in Communication
The
Association for Women in Communication was looking for
a way to remind it's members of upcoming meetings and
important events. Snail mail was becoming too costly
and trying to call all of the members with the needed
information was too time consuming and cumbersome. Then
someone realized that we are living in the 21st century
and email is now a viable option. Instead of just a
boring plain text email though, we put together what
you see below, a bit easier on the eyes.

Things to Look for in a
High Quality Web Site:
Consistency.
It's
a web site, not a web page. If you click a link on the
home page and it takes you to another page in the site,
but your not sure if it's still the same web site, that's
bad. All professional web sites have a consistent look
and feel. Though each page in a site may have it's own
vibe and feel to it, there's always going to be a certain
level of consistency.
Logical
Navigation. Ever
visited that web site you know has the information you
need, but are unable to find it. I'm sure you have because
there are plenty of them out there. Having a logical
navigation system is pivotal as it allows your visitors
to quickly and easily find the information they are
looking for. If you are relying on your web site visitors
to expend ample energy digging around your site for
what they want, you are dreaming.
Easy
on the Eyes.
A
high quality web site is always going to encourage the
reader to dig deeper and continue searching through
the site. This is done through stimulating text, but
also through the appearance of the site and how easy
it is to read the text. If you have bright neon purple
text on an orange background, you might capture your
visitor's attention, but you won't retain it. The most
captivating text on a pathetic web site is worse off
than boring text on a visually stimulating site.
